A new report from The Game Awards creator and industry veteran Geoff Keighley suggests that Jason West has joined Epic Games.
Jason West was one of the original founders of Infinity Ward and one of the creators of Call of Duty franchise. West was joined by Vince Zampella who both co-founded Infinity Ward and the Call of Duty series. The two worked together on the original Call of Duty titles and Modern Warfare series at Infinity Ward before leaving the studio because of the well documented situation between the two and Activision.
After leaving Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella both co-founded Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends, and more. Jason West, however, left Respawn in 2013 after founding it and left Vince Zampella in charge as the CEO. It was not clear whaat Jason West was set to do after leaving Respawn.
Now, Keighley’s tweet states that Jason West has joined Epic Games to work on game development efforts at the studio.
Some game industry scoop: @EpicGames has quietly hired Jason West, @InfinityWard and @Respawn co-founder, to work on its game development efforts. From what I hear West, who lives in North Carolina, has been in the office for about a month. pic.twitter.com/nhR0zPq0mB— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) April 12, 2019
It’s not clear if Jason West is working directly on Fortnite at Epic Games as of now. Epic Games does not have any officially announced games in development beyond their current work on Fortnite and the Epic Games store.
