As Season 9 nears its official end date, players are still wondering what will happen in the upcoming Mech vs. Monster event. After ten weeks of build-up, the final stages of the Pressure Robot are being to be put into place.
Early in Season 9, players realized a massive monster was trapped within the ice of Polar Peak’s iceberg. Only an eye could be seen moving, staring ever outward as players passed by.
Now, as we near the end of the season, an opposing force has built up a gigantic robot at Pressure Plant. Several upgrades and part additions have been made over the course of the past week. Another update has put the mech within days of completion.
Mech’s Right Arm Completed at Pressure Plant
The Pacific Rim/Godzilla vibes are growing stronger by the day as Epic continues to make “small” additions to the Pressure Plant robot. The Cattus monster’s power certainly packs a punch, but can it withstand the awesome might of the Mech?
The two titans will clash at some point in the coming weeks. Although the exact date of the event is unknown, we did get a small peak at the incoming timer for the event. This confirms that, as with the Unvaulting Event, players will be able to plan ahead of time. Of course, replays will also be available for anybody that misses it.
The latest update to the Pressure Plant Robot features the completion of the right arm. The shoulder, bicep, forearm, and hand have all been added to the mech’s frame. For scale, think a Neo Tilted skyscraper (or bigger).
What else will be added before the Mech vs. Monster event?
All that’s left to add is the rest of the left arm and then the head of the mech. After that, it’s all ready to fight against the monster. Of course, Epic Games might want to add a weapon of kind unless it’s meant for fist-to-claw combat.
As the robot is being modeled after the Sentinel skin, we wouldn’t expect any paintjobs to be added, but you never know. Looking good while beating up bad guys is just as important as functionality.
We also managed to capture some video of the arm in a fly-by fashion. It gives a much better idea of the scale and what is still missing from the mech.
We’ll continue providing update on the continuing build-up. The Cattus monster remains elusive since it’s last appearance, but we’re sure it’ll pop up at some point. Season 9 will end on August 1st. We expect the Mech vs. Monster event to fall in somewhere between the Fortnite World Cup Finals (July 27th/28th) and the end of Season 9.
What do you think will happen in the Mech vs. Monster event? Epic’s certain to demolish at least one major named location, but which will it be this time? Perhaps, the epic battle will change the face of Fortnite forever with a full map revamp coming in Season 10. We’ll all see it firsthand when the event launches.
