Is Epic hinting at gold material for Fortnite Season 2 in Creative Mode?
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is only a few days away and the teasers are ramping up. Epic has already released two teasers at the time of writing with more undoubtedly in the pipeline.
One of the popular rumors surrounding Fortnite Season 2 is that we’ll be getting a gold crafting material. Gold props are appearing in the center island and every Season 2 teaser hammers the gold theme home.
The reasoning for the gold remains to be seen. Fans are theorizing that it might have something to do with the unreleased Oro skin – which means ‘gold’ in Spanish. Some are even theorizing that these props are referencing King Midas and Midas Touch, where everything he touched turned to gold.
The fact that you can’t break any of these structures lends credibility to the gold material theory. If they didn’t grant you a new material or currency in Season 2, you would assume they would drop metal.
If you hop into a Creative Mode server and go over to the settings, you’ll see an interesting option under the ‘materials granted on elimination’ tabs. You have the three existing material types followed by ‘gold granted on elimination.’
I tested this in Creative and it grants you gold coins when you kill an enemy. I don’t know how long this has been in the game, but haven’t seen many people talking about it.
The placement of the setting appears to coincide with the gold material theory, but it could be something else as well. What if breaking gold items grant you gold coins, which you can then use at Vending Machines across the map?
Last month, a console player loaded into a laggy match and caught a glimpse of a Vending Machine in The Orchard. Could this have been Epic’s plan all along?
Again, I’m not sure when this setting was added to Creative Mode and it makes sense with the ‘Bounty’ and ‘Search and Destroy’ LTMs. We could be barking up the wrong tree, but it’s worth mentioning.
Let us know if you’ve seen this setting in Creative Mode before. If it’s been in the game for months, we might be able to disregard this theory. If not, though, we may have stumbled upon something real.
