This Fortnite exploit allows you to see above you without getting shot. Here’s how it works.
Exploits have been around as long as competitive video games have. Players take any advantage they can get – whether they’re intended by the developers or not.
Fortnite is a complicated game with a lot of moving parts. The more depth to a game, the more opportunities there will be to exploit it. We’ve seen this all throughout the history of Fortnite.

Recently, one player found a way to exploit the building system to gain protected sight above them. Reddit user yellowpanther posted a video to the r/CompetitiveFortnite subreddit that showed the process. All you have to do is stand on a ramp, phase through a floor, and break the ramp. The floor will disappear but will stay there for several seconds, invisibly protecting you from above.
I tested this method in Creative Mode as well, and it works as advertised. You can see everything above you while remaining protected. As soon as the floor disappears, you’ll be able to get some free shots. Better yet: your enemies will have no idea why they’re not hitting you.
We may see this exploit patched in the future, but it has all of the makings of a long-running bug that doesn’t get addressed for some time. It’s a specific one and has probably been in the game for a while already. Exploits like this one usually stay under the radar for months before someone shares them.
Whether you use this exploit or not, it’s helpful to know about it. If you see someone low-ground who isn’t taking any damage, you might want to wait a second for the floor to de-spawn so you can start shooting.
