Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has announced an upcoming livestream on New Year’s Eve in New York – where he will play Fortnite live from Times Square.
Ninja, the most popular streamer on Twitch, will be hosting an event from Times Square this December – beginning on December 31, 2018 at 4 p.m. ET and ending at 4 a.m. ET on January 1, 2019.
This was revealed during TwitchCon, in a Q&A session between Ninja and Twitch CEO Emmett Shear. He had this to say during the press release:
“”When I started in gaming, I never thought that something like this would be possible, New Year’s Eve has always been fun for gamers because it’s a night where you have a widely accepted excuse to stay up and game, but there’s never been an event in the mainstream that’s actually built around that tradition.”
At the beginning of 2017, Ninja was a streamer that barely anyone knew – and by October 2018 he has become the largest streamer on the Twitch platform, breaking viewership records by streaming with household names such as Drake and Ellen DeGeneres.
“This is just my ultimate New Year’s Eve Fortnite LAN party with some of my best friends and a few surprises that I hope we as a community can have a lot of fun with[.]”
