Map changes continue to occur as a new ‘Rift Beacon’ has been added to Neo Tilted in Season X.
Season X slowly walks towards its one week anniversary, but we’ve already a few changes take place in that time like the telescope added to Dusty Depot. More interesting develops continue to arrive as Epic begins to setup the next big seasonal event.
Neo Tilted has received a beacon of sorts which lights up the sky with a beam. The purpose behind the device is not yet known, but it could be linked to the leaked Tilted Town.
Where is the Rift Beacon in Neo Tilted?
On August 5, Epic added a new object to the middle of Neo Tilted. This ‘beacon’ sends up a magnificent beam of energy which can be seen opening a rift in the sky. We’re not exactly certain of the maker’s intentions with such a volatile device.
From Fortnite’s past, we know that Rifts can bring objects and characters from other dimensions in the game’s world. For example, Drift arrived in Fortnite from our realm of existence in Season 5.
As for the device itself, it’s quite the contraption. Metal covers both its inside and outside parts with Rift energy pulsing within. Players cannot break the object as it will play a key role in the plot of Season X. Nothing, other the Rift’s appearance, has happened as of yet.
We’ll continue to monitor the device as the days continue to roll by. It seems that those disappointed with the low number of map changes in patch v10.0 will soon be satisfied by location shifts throughout the season.
Neo Tilted soon to become Wild West ‘Tilted Town‘
This Rift Beacon’s most likely purpose is to bring about the Tilted Town event. This’ll convert Neo Tilted from a futuristic metropolis to an old Wild West town. We got to see early leaks of the event from data-miners.
Changes include all new buildings in old western style, new music, and and more. The leaks, unfortunately, were not able to tell us when we could expect to see these changes go live. Thursday, August 8 marks one week since the Season X, so it’d be a logical starting point for such location mix-ups.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see this become a common theme throughout the coming ten weeks of play. A beacon appears to warn of the oncoming change and then, within a few days, we’ll see the shift happen in an overnight update. These updates probably won’t require any additional downloads since the files look to be already included in the patches. However, most of the buildings for Tilted Town remain encrypted.
What locations would you like to see return to Fortnite in Season X via this ‘Rift Beacons’? Greasy Grove tops our list, but there’s a lot of good choices both from gameplay and nostalgia standpoints. Moisty Mire, Risky Reels, and Lazy Links would all offer up some great fun if they returned.
