New Fortnite update is littered with bugs

Epic has updated Fortnite to run on the Unreal Chaos Physics engine. Hours after the update, the bugs are rolling in.

Epic has updated Fortnite to run on the Unreal Chaos Physics engine. Hours after the update, the bugs are rolling in.

Fortnite players had high expectations when Epic announced the shift to the Unreal Engine Chaos Physics system. Fans went so far as to speculate that structures would explode and break into pieces – something that the new system allows for.

Well, the update is here, and not much has changed. It looks like the update did little other than add a heap of new bugs to the game.

We’ll start small, with an issue with the cloth animations on some skins. This isn’t the end of the world and is something that Epic can ignore for a while.

Here’s something they can’t ignore: the ability to walk directly through walls. If you phase the wall long enough, you can walk through it as if it’s not there.

Harvesting materials in v11.50 got an overhaul as well. This change wasn’t intentional, but it will certainly impact your ability to farm.

Weak points aren’t registering, most of the time. Epic responded to the following clip, saying, “Thanks for reporting this. We are actively looking into this issue.” You’re going to see those two sentences a lot.

Farming seems to be a relatively large issue in v11.50. Weak points are bugged, and so are some structures. Here’s a clip of a player harvesting a wooden car in Holly Hedges…

Want to get under the map in Fortnite? Now, it’s easier than ever. The new Chaos Physics system made an already prevalent problem even worse.

These players got through the map accidentally, but it will undoubtedly lead to people doing it on purpose. Here’s a player getting yeeted under the map and another using a boat to get there.

Epic replied to this bug, thanking the player for reporting the issue and telling the community that they’re working on a fix. Again, this is going to be a common thread in the coming days.

We’ve also seen a few smaller bugs with the update. I’m sure that more glaring problems will make their way to the surface over the next few days.

All of this begs the question: why did Epic make this shift? Are they holding back on the new features until they sort out the bugs? If so, why risk breaking the game to add a couple of new mechanics?

Hopefully, Epic will be sorting all of this out soon. Unfortunately, the update feels like a reset to a season that has largely been focused on fixing bugs. Now, we have a whole new batch of issues to deal with.

How to enter the Stark Industries Vault without a keycard

Fortnite players have found an exploit that allows them to enter the Stark Industries vault without a keycard.

Published

on

The first update of Fortnite Season 4 included a massive overhaul of almost the entire northeast portion of the map. Stark Industries has now become one of the most popular places to land, with nearly a quarter of the lobby chasing Iron Man at the beginning of each match.

It’s easy to understand why this location is so popular. Stark Industries offers a ton of loot, a chance for an early battle, the only place to obtain high-level Stark Rifles, the Iron Man hero abilities, and a vault.

We’re focusing on the vault, for this article. It’s one of only two closed vaults on the map, but that doesn’t mean that you need a keycard to enter. More than a few players have eliminated Iron Man and hit the vault, only to find a squad of players already inside.

The reason for this is a video made by popular YouTuber and glitch exposer Glitch King. He offered a video tutorial on how to enter the Stark Industries vault without a keycard.

A glitch like this one has been possible in every season since vaults first came to Fortnite. The good thing was that most of these glitches took so long to complete that they were nearly impossible to pull off in a real game. You’d have to build walls and cones, get a boat, and spam buttons to enter the vault.

This one, however, is troublingly easy. All you need to do is hit the back of the vault at the proper angle with one of the many cars that spawn in the Stark Industries parking lot. Simply land, grab a car, drive it under the stairs and hop into the vault.

There’s a small catch to this glitch, however. One of the requirements is a bad PC – or, at least, a friend with a bad PC. Part of the glitch requires the driver’s PC to fail to render the walls of the vault, pushing you inside.

Admittedly, Glitch King makes the exploit look easier than it is. You probably won’t get it on your first try, but there’s nothing stopping players from practicing this glitch in Battle Lab. Once you find the right angle, you’ll get in every time.

Of course, you’ll be stuck inside the vault until someone else opens it, but that isn’t much of a problem. The Stark Industries vault almost never goes unopened, so chances are you’ll be able to loot the vault and kill whoever opens the door for you.

This is a pretty broken exploit, so we hope Epic address it in a coming update. The longer it’s in the game, the more players will try it. For now, all we can advise is to be careful when opening the Stark Industries vault.

New Fortnite Battle Bus “Upgrade” leaked

Tony Stark is improving the Fortnite Battle Bus. Take a look at the leaked first version of the upgrade.

Fortnite Season 4 is finally giving players a taste of what it was like to play the game in Chapter 1. The updates aren’t coming at the same rapid clip as they were during the last chapter, but they’re steadily changing the game by adding new content every couple of weeks.

Yesterday’s update was a perfect example of this. It wasn’t as big as v14.10, which brought Stark Industries to the game, but it made significant changes in key areas of the map. The update also released Wolverine, who is the toughest boss that Fortnite has ever seen.

The map is progressively changing over the course of the season and we haven’t seen the last alteration. In fact, the map isn’t the only part of Fortnite that’s set for an overhaul as the season progresses.

Players who have had a chance to breathe in Stark Industries have noticed that Tony Stark appears to be making alterations to the Battle Bus. You can find one of the busses in his garage. It seems as though Stark wasn’t content with the plain old bus we’ve had since the early days of Fortnite.

Thanks to data miners, we already know how the upgraded Battle Bus will look when Tony Stark is finished with his first round of alterations.

There isn’t too much of a difference with this first stage, but we don’t expect Stark to stop there. By the end of the season, there’s a strong chance that the Battle Bus has its very own Iron Bus suit.

As you can see, the sound of the bus is also changing. It appears as though Stark is focusing on the performance of the bus before moving onto the cosmetics.

One interesting question that we have is: will this affect the speed of the bus? We assume that a more powerful engine would allow the bus to hit higher speeds. The speed probably won’t change due to game mechanics, but anything’s possible!

We’ll keep you posted when we learn more about Tony Stark’s plan for the Battle Bus. We can expect to see this version of the bus come to Fortnite within the next two weeks.

How to collect Floating Rings at Coral Castle

Take a look at all of the Coral Castle floating ring locations for the Fortnite Season 4 Week 5 challenges.

Coral Castle in Fortnite

Fortnite Season 4 Week 5 is here, marking the halfway point in the season and, for many, the Battle Pass. Tier 100 and Tony Stark are only a few weeks away as long as you complete all of your weekly challenges.

For Week 5, we’re back to searching for floating rings in named POIs. We’re going to Coral Castle this time around, which was introduced towards the end of last season. Coral Castle isn’t a very popular POI most of the time, but it will be getting a lot more action when the Week 5 challenges come to the game.

Below is a map of the location along with all of the floating rings that you need to complete the challenge.

It would be best to complete this one in Team Rumble – which is disabled at the time of writing – but there’s a 50% chance that you get an unfavorable bus. Even still, you could probably stretch your landing and make it to one or two rings before being eliminated by the enemy team.

You can take a look at the rest of the challenges here. If you’re still looking for the Transport Truck for the Wolverine challenge, you can find that here. Happy hunting!
