Professional Fortnite players Mitr0 and Monraal have announced their duo status for the Fortnite World Cup events.
On Tuesday, March 26th, professional Fortnite player Mongraal for Team Secret tweeted out his partnership with fellow player Mitr0 for the Fortnite World Duos events.
Duos for the Fortnite World Cup are locked in per weekly event. We suspect these two powerhouses to stick together throughout the five events, but they can still split up as per the rules if things don’t go their way.
Both Mongraal and Mitr0 have had some success in the Fortnite eSports with decent placements and many online tourneys wins.
Mitr0 plays on behalf of Team Atlantis, another EU based eSports organization. No word on any official contracts signings between the two players’ organizations have been released.
As with several other cross team duos in Fortnite, prize money may be either split between the organizations or some other agreement reached later in the tournament cycle.
With the launch of v8.20, a new ‘Arena Mode’ will arrive through which players such Mongraal and Mitr0 will compete to gain access to the Fortnite World Cup weekly Semi-Finals and Finals.
This means pro players do not automatically qualify for the World Cup and must go through the gauntlet just like any other, no special privileges. You too can compete for a chance to win a piece of the $40 million dollars in prizing.
The first Duos event for the Fortnite World Cup takes place on April 20th and 21st in six regions, starting at 4pm local time. You can expect to see Mitr0 and Mongraal competing in the event just under a month from now.
