The Fortnite world was briefly used as a battleground for the Polar Peak monster and Pressure Plant mech robot to fight off against each other on July 20.
During the event, players were given Jetpacks with unlimited fuel so they could enjoy any angle that they wanted.
In the end, it was the giant mech that prevailed for a Victory Royale over the Polar Peak monster.
Epic Games announced on July 20, after the Final Showdown event, that Jetpacks would be temporarily unvaulted in all core Fortnite game modes.
The battle is over and Jetpacks have been unvaulted for a limited time in our core game modes!— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) July 20, 2019

The date for when Jetpacks will be re-vaulted was not announced, so players should hop in and enjoy the skies while they can!
The backpack item was originally implemented in Fortnite back in update v4.2. It allowed players to quickly gain the higher ground during fights along with giving players a quick way to escape out of a battle.
Players were also able to use the Jetpack in the “Close Encounters” LTM where everybody can use a Jetpack and shotguns.
Competitive players should not fret, as Jetpacks will not be added into competitive modes. This should also mean that Jetpacks will not be available for July 26 to July 28’s $30 million Fortnite World Cup.
The general opinion on the Final Showdown event is positive as major personalities like Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and Jack ‘Courage’ Dunlop all hopped in-game to witness the encounter between the two giant beasts.
Be sure to hop into a game of Fortnite Battle Royale to get your hands on the Jetpack before it is sent back into the depths of the vault!
