There were numerous hints and even a few leaks that lead fans to believe there would be a crossover event between Fortnite and IT Chapter 2.

Fortnite Battle Royale has had several crossover events with different projects ranging from movies, shows, and video games.

The most recent crossover event had the world of Borderlands briefly appear in Fortnite Battle Royale with the Pandora Rift Zone, Welcome to Pandora missions, and Psycho Bundle.

Hints began to appear on August 27 as leakers began to post audio files of the infamous laugh that belongs to Pennywise the Clown from IT. A few days later players noticed that there was a red balloon coming out of the gutter in Pleasant Park.

Here’s a timeline of all clues pointing towards a Fortnite x IT Chapter Two crossover.

Potential IT Chapter Two leaks

HypeX, an infamous Fortnite Leaker, posted an audio clip on August 27. Soon after another leaker, FortTory, posted an in-game file picture showing that “a creepy balloon [was] added into the files.”

Epic Games have added objects into Fortnite’s in-game files before, and sometimes they are placeholders or old code, so these leaks were not solid evidence.

Balloons and laughter

Six days later on September 4, the balloon finally appeared in Pleasant Park.

There was one red balloon that was tied to the gutter outside of the destroyed home next to the soccer field. Once players popped the balloon, they could hear the same laughter from the leaked audio clip.

Retweet from official IT Chapter Two Twitter

Epic Games has yet to make any type of announcement that a new crossover would be arriving, but the official IT Chapter Two Twitter dropped a subtle hint.

The same day the red balloon appeared in Fortnite, their Twitter account retweeted one of our articles covering the potential crossover.

Of course, their retweet isn’t an official confirmation, but it was a sign that the crossover could potentially happen.

Balloon disappears

On September 9, the red balloon was removed from Fortnite Battle Royale. The house behind the balloon still remains the same.

With IT Chapter Two releasing on September 6, we think that the red balloon’s brief appearance was the only thing we will see from a potential crossover.

Previous crossover events in Fortnite usually take place before the project’s release, so we believe the time had come and gone for a Fortnite x IT event.

Do you have any ideas on what Fortnite’s next crossover event will be?
