Controlling walls and floors during a build fight is a crucial part in taking the Victory Royale while playing Fortnite.

When watching pro players, or players that are really good at the game in general, you will notice that they are always trying to ‘own’ walls.

This gives them the ability to make edits while their opponent’s only choice is to destroy the wall or roof.

Often players will try to spam walls to protect themselves when they know another player is trying to break their way in.

Suddenly the encounter comes down to a wall replace battle to see who can get a wall up first. The winner will have access to edits and will be able to make a play on their opponent.

Reddit user ‘ImSpeedyGonzalez’ put together a tutorial to show players how to have the best chance of winning a wall replace battle.

After showing himself win a wall replace battle, ImSpeedyGonzalez gets into the tutorial saying, “The first thing I’m going to talk about is a common mistake I see people making, which is pickaxing and then switching to their wall all while holding down turbo build.”

In the tutorial, he explains that the first wall you place while holding down turbo build has a 0.15-second delay, but if you instead time the wall placement by just clicking or pressing the button you will only see a 0.05-second delay.

How to win the wall replace (summary in the comments) from r/FortniteCompetitive

The best way to win the wall replace battle is to actually spam your build button rather than hold it down.

ImSpeedyGonzalez takes things a step further by binding his build button to ‘scroll wheel down’ so that he can simply scroll to win the wall replace battle.

Make sure you are prepared for the new Season of the Battle Royale by practicing as many different build mechanics as you can.

Fortnite Season 7 starts December 6th, 2018 with the expectation of snow flooding the map along with new items, skins, and areas to explore.
