Season 8’s event based around Loot Lake and the mysterious runes is set to kick off on May 4 and we have all the information you need.

On April 19, strange runes began appearing around the Fortnite Battle Royale map that eventually wound up at Loot Lake.

Data miners were able to dig into Fortnite’s files in order to find out when and where the rumored event would kick off, and it seems like May 4 is the day.

Runes at Loot Lake?

April 19 was a strange day, as mythic runes began appearing around the map on floating pedestals.

After players dealt damage to the runes, the runes would move to Loot Lake, and eventually “lock” into place.

Some leaks suggest that an event will take place on May 4 that could involve an “unvaulting” of several guns like the tactical smg, drum gun, and more.

When is the event happening?

A timer appeared above Loot Lake on May 3 counting down from 24 hours.

If the timer above Loot Lake is accurate, the event will kick off on May 4 at around 12 pm PST / 3 pm EST / 8 pm BST.

Miners were also able to locate files which suggest that the event will be similar to the Marshmello event where players will be unable to eliminate each other.

Where can I watch?

If fans are unable to hop into Fortnite Battle Royale on May 4, be sure to tune in to your favorite streamer.

Several of the top Fortnite players across Twitch and Youtube will be streaming the event for the world to see.

How can I participate?

At around 12 pm PST / 3 pm EST, head to Loot Lake and wait for the event to unfold.

We recommend hopping into Fortnite about 10 minutes before the event begins in order to guarantee your spot in a lobby.

If this event is similar to Marshmello’s Pleasant Park concert, then players will automatically be transported to Loot Lake in order to witness the event.
