New bugs and glitches in Fortnite have become somewhat expected, but the ‘no building’ glitch after gliding may take the cake. Here’s how to quickly fix the effect if you are afflicted by it.

Bugs are a common part of game development due to the massive size of projects, but Fortnite’s struggle with glitches has been rough in recent months. Everything from sounds to textures has been riddled with small annoyances in recent patches.

The latest bug with the most prominent impact involves not being able to build after gliding. Most players glide at least once per match, so this glitch presents serious problems.

How to fix ‘No Builds’ Glitch after gliding

First, let’s take a look at the bug in action. @Sen_Animal was playing in the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers and he decided to use his Glider Redeploy to rotate to the edge of the Storm.

The game had other plans for Animal as he could not build upon landing…which led to his immediate death. The player claims that this clip is the only reason he did not qualify to the World Cup Finals.

Alright, now that you know what the glitch looks like, how do you fix it? Thankfully, due to great community research and testing, a way to fix the glitch has been found.

FortniteCompetitive subreddit user and popular community member ‘ImSpeedyGonzalez’ has posted up a video showing a method by which you can break out of the bug. He also explains why the bug may have occurred.

The no-build “issue” after gliding that killed Animal in his twitter clip was because of something introduced in Patch 8.3. It’s caused by pushing turbo build while gliding; If it ever happens to you, simply release your turbo build and then press it again. (i said issue because automod) from r/FortniteCompetitive

Please head to Reddit and give the video an up-vote as the quality is superb and his explanation is very thorough. You can also find him on Twitter at @ImSpeedyGonzale.

The issue in Animal’s clip stems from a problem introduced in patch v8.30. Epic Games gave players the ability to switch weapons and builds mid-flight while gliding.

Previously, you would be able to press ‘Mouse 1’ or ‘Right Trigger’ in the air in-prep to build once you land. With this bug however, you will need to wait until you land to start pressing the building key/button.

If you do press and hold the key before landing, you will simply sit there spinning around with turbo build and nothing will come out. Releasing the key and re-pressing it will fix the bug.

Even with this information, the bug can be extremely frustrating to deal with and can lead to dumb deaths. Epic Games should address this and other bugs quickly to maintain the quality of the competitive game.
