The Fortnite X Avengers crossover event began on April 25th and shortly thereafter, a leak revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy skins were inbound. Images of the Star Lord skin have been leaked as of April 26th.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are Marvel’s second most successful franchise behind the Avengers. The ragtag team of bandits/heroes bring a mix of destruction and humor to the screen like no one else.

Epic Games and Marvel will be bring some of the Guardians to Fortnite as part of the Fortnite X Avengers event. The first of these seems to be ‘Star Lord’ as an image has been leaked of the new skin.

While the skin obviously resembles the hero to a certain extent, many fans have already voiced concerns over the design. The spacing of the eyes, the white sleeves/outfit, and the mohawk-ish hairstyle don’t exactly invoke the idea of Star Lord.

Here’s a picture of Star Lord donning his full gear during a fight from one of the popular films, see the differences for yourself:

The skin changes out the signature red/crimson jacket for the red vest with a white shirt beneath it. Additionally, the helmet’s eyes are very far apart, making Fortnite’s Star Lord have a bug-eye effect.

The upcoming skin isn’t horrible per se, but the Epic Games’ art team has definitely taken much more creative freedom with him than with Black Widow.

We don’t yet know when the skin will be released, but you can expect it to arrive at some point with in the next 10 days. There could one or two skins coming from Marvel before the Star Lord release.

What are you thoughts on the Star Lord skin? Do you agree with our assessment or do you find the skin’s style acceptably close to the films? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
