Ghost Gaming pro Aydan ‘Aydan’ Conrad had his alt account banned on Fortnite for smurfing live on stream.

The well-known Fortnite pro was on his smurf account to avoid waiting in long lobbies, but as it turns out, Epic Games doesn’t like it when you do that.

In the middle of queuing up for a new match with his alt account Cpt. Aim Assist, he was struck by the banhammer that resulted in a 24-hour ban. Fortunately, he found some humor with the ban.

This was coming off a monster kill game so it’s couldn’t have come at a worst time for him, or better time if you’re looking at it from Epic’s point of view.

With the latest Fortnite update, skill-based matchmaking was introduced which can cause queue issues depending on how good you are. Given that Aydan is a pro at the game, his queues can take pretty long and smurfing can be a viable option.

Smurfing is something that occurs in many games with a ranking system, but it hasn’t been all that common in Fortnite as there’s never been any need to do it until now.

Although his main account is still safe, Aydan is spending all October 1 checking out the new Apex Legends season, so he’s taking this ban in stride.

With the FNCS now wrapped up for Season X, the pro players are setting their sights towards the Season 11 offering that will debut squads. In the meantime, there’s not a whole lot left for pros as the season closes out.

Season 10 is set to wrap up on October 6 and we can assume the next season will start up some time after that.

Hopefully, Epic will be able to work something out about the long queue times so players such as Aydan aren’t forced to smurf again to get into games.
