The 2018 Holiday Season saw an enormous amount of money being spent by consumers on the Apple App Store, and Fortnite was at the top of the list.

Following the 2018 Holiday Season, Apple revealed that customers spent a staggering $1.22 billion between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

New Year’s Day 2019 set a new record for most single-day spending with $322 million according to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Gaming and Self-Care apps took the top spots in terms of popularity over the 2018 Holiday Season. Fortnite, among other popular gaming titles, helped drive downloads and sales.

“Globally, multiplayer games including Fortnite and PUBG were among the top downloaded games over the holidays, along with Brawl Stars, Asphalt 9 and Monster Strike. ”

Fortnite continues to make waves around the gaming community even after more than a year since its original launch in September of 2017.

The month of December was dominated by Fortnite streamers across Twitch in terms of growth and overall hours watched, which puts Fortnite’s overall popularity on display.

At the time of writing, the exact number of Fortnite iOS downloads on the App Store is unknown.
