The first major update of Fortnite’s Season 8 is rapidly approaching.
Thanks to Daylight Savings time kicking in on March 10th, the release time for this update is different than it has been for months.
The downtime for this update will begin at 5:00 AM ET (0900 UTC) and will last the usually short duration before the update goes live.
Depending on your time zone this can be welcome news to content creators who have been getting up early with each new update to have first looks at the newest features added to the game.
For creators on the west coast of the US, they have usually stayed awake until the update kicked in at 1 AM PT, but now that has been moved to 2 AM, leading to even longer nights for them.
The v8.10 update rolls out tomorrow, March 12!— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) March 11, 2019
Downtime begins at 5 AM ET (0900 UTC).
The main feature coming in this update is the brand new “Baller” vehicle. The ball appears to be a cross between the ball used in Jurassic Park to tour the dinosaurs and Hammond’s ball from Overwatch, with a Grappler on the front.
If the ball picks up speed by going down hills and then uses the grappler to go uphill, it seems like it would be a whole lot of fun.
Who doesn’t want to fly around the map in a giant hamster ball trying to stick trees with a plunger? If that doesn’t sound like fun to you, I don’t know what to tell you.
In this update we can also expect some more micro adjustments and often the vaulting of a weapon or two, but that is never confirmed until the update actually goes live.
