For those new to Fortnite, you may not be familiar with Season 7’s Battle Star system. Here’s how players can earn and use Fortnite Season 7 Battle Stars to unlock skins.
During a normal season of Fortnite, players would complete challenges and earn XP to climb Battle Pass tiers. Tiers would corelate with the player’s level, and each tier has specific rewards. However, the Battle Star system makes a drastic change to how players earn seasonal items.
The Fortnite Season 7 Battle Stars are earned by leveling and spent on Battle Pass items. They gives players a bit of freedom to choose which items they want to unlock. Players can buy the level 100 skin right from the start, but they can choose the order in which they get there.
Understanding Battle Star and the Battle Pass
The Season 7 Battle Pass isn’t a tier list. Instead, it’s more like a catalog of items players can choose from. They will have to unlock a certain number of items or reach a certain level before they can move to different tiers of the catalog. But they are still able to choose how they get to that next tier.
The easiest way to get to the next tier is by purchasing the required number of items using Battle Stars. These are a form of currency that a player earns every time they level up. With each level, a player will earn five Battle Stars. They can then use these stars to purchase any of the Battle Pass cosmetics available to them.
Players can still purchase levels using V-Bucks, and in return they will be rewarded with five Battle Stars for every level they purchase. Each level costs 150 V-Bucks. This won’t auto unlock items like in the past, but will reward players with Battle Stars to spend.
With all of the great cosmetic items in Fortnite Season 7’s Battle Pass, it’s hard to choose what to buy first. Do you save up your stars until you reach a certain level, or do you spend them as you earn them? There’s plenty of time to earn enough stars to buy every item in the Battle Pass, so get out there and start earning those stars.
How & where to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 7
Fortnite Season 7 has reintroduced weapon upgrade benches. Here’s where every bench is located and how players can upgrade weapons in Fortnite.
Crafting has stuck around and Upgrade Benches have made a triumphant return! Here’s how to upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 7 for the right price.
Fortnite Season 5 did away with Upgrade Benches – instead, integrating weapon upgrades into the new Gold Bars system. In Season 6, Epic introduced another new way to upgrade weapons in the form of the crafting system.
Now, at the start of Fornite Season 7, Upgrade Benches have returned to The Island, but they are different than before. Sadly, the ability to use NPCs to upgrade weapons has been removed, but using a Weapon Upgrade bench is just as easy.
Upgrade weapons in Fortnite Season 7
Season 7 has thinned out the number of NPCs available and has removed one of their most useful features. Players can’t visit an NPC and throw a few gold bars their way to upgrade weapons anymore. Instead, players have to either craft new weapons or use Upgrade Benches.

The map below shows the location of every weapon upgrade bench in Season 7. In previous seasons, players would have to expend building materials to upgrade weapons. However, now upgrade benches accept gold bars in exchange for uprgades.
So, while there may not be any upgrade NPCS, Upgrade Benches are effectively the same thing. As with any upgrade system, each upgrade will cost a different amount of gold bars depending on the rarity of the item. In the past, Upgrade Benches would make players wait to receive their upgrade, but now they are delivered instantly.
The third and most tedious way to upgrade weapons is to use Fortnite’s crafting system. In Season 6, players had bones and mechanical parts to craft with. Now players have to craft nuts and bolts in order to craft a different weapon. This won’t increase the weapons rarity, but acts as a sidegrade to change the weapon type.
How to get the Rick Sanchez skin in Fortnite
Fortnite Season 7 has an official crossover with Rick & Morty. Here is how players can unlock the Rick skin in Fortnite.
Rick Sanchez from the popular cartoon Rick & Morty has made his way into the world’s most popular Battle Royale. Here is how to get the Rick skin in Fortnite Season 7.
Grandpa Rick is part of the Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass which means players will have to work a little bit to get him. Luckily, players who have an active Fortnite Crew subscription will already have access to this season’s Battle Pass.
However, he is easier to unlock than you’d think. Since Fortnite Season 7 features the return of the Battle Star system, players only need to earn enough stars to unlock him. The Battle Star system allows players to unlock Battle Pass items in the order that they want. So, Grandpa Rick can be the first skin that players unlock this season.
Rick Fortnite skin set and cost
There is a catch to the Battle Star system though, that may make it take longer for players to unlock Rick. Rick is on page 10 of the Battle Pass which means players have to be at least level 90 to purchase his cosmetics. Alternatively, players can claim 89 Battle Pass rewards to unlock Page 10.
When players finally unlock page ten, they can then buy the Rick skin in Fortnite for 9 Battle Stars. Rick also comes with a cosmetic set of 8 other items that can also be purchased. The Hammer Morty pickaxe costs 7 Stars. The Butter Robot Back Bling costs six Stars. His weapon wrap costs five Stars, and his Glider costs six stars.
His set also comes with an emoticon, emote, spray, and loading screen. While he can be the first skin that players purchase, they would have to spend a lot of V-Bucks on Battle Pass tiers. Since Rick is essentially the Level 100 skin for this season, it makes sense that he would take longer to unlock.
Rick also has a skin variant that can be unlocked that turns him green and slimey. This style is found under a different Battle Pass tab and also has to be purchased using Battle Stars. Players also have to meet certain criteria to unlock the page it’s on.
How to get the Superman skin in Fortnite Season 7
Finally, DC’s most iconic hero has made it into Fortnite. Here is how players can unlock the Superman skin in Fortnite as well as his cosmetic set.
Clark Kent aka Superman has finally made his way into Fortnite following various other DC characters. Here’s how players can get the Superman skin in Fortnite Season 7.
Superman is part of the Fortnite Season 7 Battle Pass which means players will have to work a little bit to get him.
While other skins can be unlocked in a timely manner, Superman is locked behind a countdown timer.
Superman set and costs
Players will have to wait 65 days to unlock Superman as his cosmetics can’t be purchased until August 12. His set will still need to be purchased with Battle Stars, and players should have plenty racked up by then. However, Superman’s full set is pretty extensive.
As seen below, Superman’s entire set consists of 11 different pieces. Like the Tony Stark skin, Clark Kent is the base skin players will need to unlock. Afterward, they can purchase different styles including the Superman costume. The second Superman style is called Shadow Superman.
The Superman skin in Fortnite also comes with a Back Bling and pickaxe. To top it all off, Superman has a special cape that only he can wear. This cape also acts as a glider that allows him to fly into battle. While he may look like the man of steel, he’s still very susceptible to taking damage from bullets, laser beams, and even vehicles.
While players have to wait until August to claim their Superman cosmetics, its exciting to see another one of DCs main heroes make it into Fortnite. With the addition of The Flash, Batman, and Aquaman, it was only a matter of time before Superman made it onto the roster.
