There are some battle royale games on the market that have both a first-person and third-person mode, most notably PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Would that work well in Fortnite?
If you really think about it, most shooters on the market are first-person, with exception being battle royale games are generally third-person.
This doesn’t mean first-person doesn’t work in battle royale games because we have seen it done in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
It can even be argued the first-person mode in PUBG is better than its third-person default mode.
Many of the big streamers who still play PUBG will play the game in first-person instead of third-person.
With all that said, do you think Fortnite could implement a working first-person mode?
This fan-made concept gives us a glimpse at what an first-person shooter Fortnite could look like.
In the above concept, created by Reddit user hephix_, we can see the player wielding a pistol and a grenade.
Fortnite requires players to switch to grenades to use them but the general idea is still shown quite well in the image.
The one thing that could be difficult is the fact Fortnite uses a building mechanic that could quickly become difficult and chaotic in first-person.
Everything else such as shooting, looting, driving, etc. could work fine in first-person but the building will be a whole different beast.
If Epic Games ever did decide to go this route, it’d likely take a lot of testing internally to get something they would be okay with releasing to the public.
