Epic Games disabled the controversial BRUTE mech’s in Fortnite Battle Royale, but there’s bad news with the good, as the change wasn’t permanent.
The mechs, first added at the launch of Season X (10) were immediately a problem for many players, who felt they were far too powerful and imbalanced.
Competitive players especially were angered by their inclusion, as any player wielding the power of a mech was guaranteed easy eliminations and possibly even the match win.
Casual players too didn’t love the new armored vehicle, but Epic remained firm on their decision to add the mechs, claiming it was in-keeping with their “philosophy” for the game.
Although the community has been quite vocal about removing the mechs, especially with a number of glitches, they have been ever-present since the start of the tenth season – until now.
On August 30, Epic confirmed that the mechs had been disabled, due to an “issue” with its air stomp attack.

We’re working to resolve this issue and will provide an update when we have more information.
Unsurprisingly, the replies were filled with people asking that the removal be made permanent. They were ignored.
On August 31, the official Fortnite Twitter confirmed the return of the controversial mech’s in core playlists and limited-time modes, but would remain absent from competitive, at least for now.
