SuperData (A Nielson Company) has put out its report for October 2018’s Top Grossing games. Interestingly, Fortnite has fallen from its #1 position in the console category after this year’s AAA releases.
This report shows that Fortnite has fallen to the #3 position due to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Fortnite rebounds but loses top console spot to AAA releases.
Fortnite revenue was up sequentially, and more than 20x what it made last October. This follows back-to-back months of sequential declines, although Fortnite is still off from its peak in July.
Despite this report, Fortnite continues to be a huge success for Epic Games and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This is clearly indicated by beating out several other AAA titles as seen on the chart.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you consider Fortnite to be “dying”? While many players have grown tired of the current game state, the game is far from being “dead”.
