At any one time, there are a couple of bugs in Fortnite but this one is one of the most frustrating.
“Turtling” is the act of surrounding yourself with walls and placing a pyramid on top to protect yourself from opponents as you heal or plan your next move.
It’s a common site in most pro games and is a good trick for casual players to learn as it is the simplest and most effective way to buy yourself some time in a heated battle.
Unfortunately, turtling has become less effective thanks to a recent bug.
Players trying to edit their way out of the turtle have found that edits are not going through how they would like and are causing confusion and annoyance.
A gif showing this problem was posted by Oogway. They have multiple high placings in Pop-Up Cups so you can trust they are normally quick and accurate with edits.
While this obviously poses an issue to competitive players, it’s an issue faced by the entire player base.
Simply being in an enclosed area and trying to edit out of it is a common occurrence in almost every game of Fortnite.
It is only made worse because generally when you find yourself in a situation like this, it means at least one opponent is bearing down on you and you don’t have time to waste.

Many people have been clamoring for the next Fortnite patch (expected to come later this week) to be focused around optimization and balance changes, while still implementing the new Flintlock pistol.
Hopefully this is one of the bugs that is fixed. Until then, prioritizing other ways to protect yourself may be the right call.
