A haunting glitch in Fortnite Chapter 2 has been found that makes players hiding in dumpsters come out as a flying specters.

Epic Games revamped their battle royale with the launch of the game’s new chapter, after tons of hype and anticipation was built during the ominous black hole event which temporarily shut down the title.

After seeing the Chapter 2 gameplay trailer, the game’s community knew they were in for a completely new experience than what they’ve been used to, seeing as the devs introduced a ton of new features and mechanics to the game.

In a Reddit post, user ‘Bigdog-475’ highlighted a clip that showed him take cover in a nearby dumpster, testing out the interaction with the object that shrouds players within the container’s rubbish.

After exiting once their teammate caught up with them, the player can be seen reentering the dumpster. But the exit wasn’t as smooth as the first time around, seeing as they were flung high up in the air.

Getting out of the dumpster essentially launched the player skyward while also making them completely invisible. The smokey effect around their character only added to the ghostly effect as they flew across the map.

“So hiding in a dumpster turned me into a dementor?” Bigdog said referencing the specters from the Harry Potter franchise who kept prisoners in Azkaban in check.

In the clip, it looks like the bug timed out at the apex of Bigdog’s leap, which left them completely defenseless as they fell from a staggering height. The player was knocked down as soon as they made landfall.

“It just wouldn’t be Fortnite if there wasn’t a new bug that sent people flying lol,” one person said, noting the prevalence for these kinds of bugs.

But it seems like the Epic Games team is on the case, as Community Coordinator ‘FreightTrainUSA’ chimed in: “Thanks for the report, sending this over to get looked at!”

Until the bug is resolved Fortnite players might want to be wary around these dumpsters, but a fix should be coming sooner than later.
