The vaulting of Fortnite’s Combat Shotgun has split some of the game’s top community members – with plenty praising Epic Games for removing the weapon.

In a shock move, Epic decided to vault the Combat Shotgun in their v10.20.2 patch on September 5, as well as implementing some nerfs for the BRUTE Mech.

The Combat Shotgun wasn’t the only gun to hit the vault, as it was accompanied by the Drum Shogun and Proximity Launcher. However, it is the close-range weapon that has sparked conversation within the game’s community –  and especially among some of the most popular players and content creators.

One of the most vocal members of the community, Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney, was clearly delighted upon hearing the news.

“THE COMBST SHOTGUN GOT VAULTED LETS GOOOOO!!!!!,” he tweeted, before also explaining why it’s removal will bring enjoyment back to competitive play with the Pump Shotgun.

His excitement for the Combat’s exit was matched by 100 Thieves’ Davis ‘Ceice’ McClellan, who tweeted that his “prayers had been answered,” following the weapon’s removal.

The happy pair of competitive stars were joined by Twitch streamer Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo, who was much more subtle with his delight.

The streaming star simply responded to Epic’s annoucement Twitter post with a handful of clapping emojis.

While a number of players were happy to see the gun make an exit, there are some who are upset about its removal.

One player who falls under that umbrella is Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff who tweeted: “Not the combat fam,” with a facepalm emoji attached.

He was joined by Ghost Gaming’s Timothy ‘Bizzle’ Miller, who asked his Twitter followers: “Why vault the Combat, like why,” before following it up with a second post.

Bizzle added: “Am I the only one who liked the combat? Sorry I don’t like getting aim assisted for 200 (HP) with a Pump Shotgun.”

Yet, with the pool of shotguns being decreased, FaZe Clan’s Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore decided to chime in with an idea that would cause plenty of chaos.

“Unvault the purple and legendary pump,” he tweeted to the dismay of plenty of his fans.

It remains to be seen if Epic Games has any plans for a brand new weapon, or if they will follow Cloak’s idea in unvaulting the more powerful Pump shotguns or, perhaps, even the Heavy Shotgun.
