The long-awaited time is here: Fortnite Arena Duos is back. Take a look at this and additional scheduling information for the Winter Royale 2019.

It was only a matter of time before Epic added Arena Duos back to Fortnite. They already announced the Winter Royale Duos competition, so players were awaiting the eventual release of the Arena Duos playlist.

Competitive Fortnite players have been asking for Arena Duos since Epic removed the game mode following the World Cup. Trios and Squads were fun, but there was something engaging about Duos that wasn’t present in the other game modes.

The wait is over, though. You can load into Fortnite and play Arena Duos with one of your friends.

Winter Royale 2019

Epic posted a blog to announce Arena Duos and to give further information about when the Winter Royale will take place. This will be a three-day, platform-specific competition on December 10, 13, and 20.

These tournaments appear to be four-hour Cash Cups – unlike the full tournament we saw last year.

Another wrinkle is the points system. According to the rules, you’ll only be awarded points for wins and kills. A win will be 15 points and each kill is worth 1 point.

It’s going to be interesting to see how players use the scoring system to their advantage. The tournament is open to all players, which means high-level pros might go for pop-off games early instead of trying to win.
