A professional Fortnite player suffered a frustrating glitch during one of the biggest tournaments of the year.

FaZe Clan player Nate Hill was competing in the PAX West Summer Skirmish event in Seattle, going up against 98 other elite level players who had made it to the grand finals on Monday September 3.

Expectations were high for the newest member of the FaZe Clan team, and he didn’t disappoint as he eventually walked away with fourth place and a $120,000. However, could it have been more?

During the final moments of one of the matches, Nate was left in a 1 v 1 situation with the high ground, but was unable to pickaxe his way through as the circle began to close in on him.

The glitch is an uncommon one, but it left the player no choice but to shoot the ground out beneath him and eventually fell to his death. Upon dying, he showed his visible frustration at losing out on the $25,000 first place prize.

Whether being able to pickaxe his way down would have made a difference is another matter, with viewers arguing that it would have been a miracle for him to land the winning shot.
