Event Watch: Fortnite Doomsday Device is growing

The next stage of construction on the Doomsday Device has begun.

Published

on

The Doomsday Device is the looming plotline that looks to end Fortnite Season 2. Of course, we don’t know this for sure, but rumors have it that Midas is working on a device that could lead to a flood of the entire map.

We don’t know whether or not this will trigger an in-game event, but most players are expecting one. A plot-driven event is long overdue, and Epic blew us away with the Astronomical concert. Anything short of a Season-ending event would probably be a disappointment.

In the meantime, we’re watching the rumored Doomsday Device take shape in the Battle Pass tab. Earlier this week, a leak revealed a new challenge and some additional action within the Doomsday Device. You can see some enhanced activity, below.

This isn’t the only progress we’ve seen this week. On May 7, players noticed a small detail in the Battle Pass tab. A cable appeared on the ceiling, which looks to be the first of many.

We’ll likely see these cables multiply in the coming days and weeks. Soon enough, the Doomsday Device will be complete and released upon the island – we assume.

The only thing missing from all of this is a motive. If we assume that Midas is behind the device – why is he building it? Will he be a player in future seasons of Fortnite? Is he one of The Seven? Does he know more than he leads on?

Some of these questions will, likely, never be answered. Others may take a year or more to come to fruition – similar to what we saw with The Visitor in Chapter 1. Until then, all we can do is play and hope for a stunning event to usher-in Season 3.

Fortnite leak reveals details about the Season 5 end event

As this season ends and Fortnite Season 6 begins, new event leaks reveal what could be in store for us at the end of Season 5.

Fortnite Zero Point

Fortnite Season 5 is nearly over, and new leaks are showing us what to expect as far as a season-ending event that will lead into Season 6.

Season X is here, and the world is destabilizing, fast!

As Season 5 winds down, the exposed Zero Point is becoming more and more dangerous. Following the v15.50 update, players noticed that the Zero Point is now extending to all of the portals on the island.

According to leaks, however, this is only the beginning of what’s about to happen. Fortnite data miners have found files relating to the season-ending event, which could have a major effect on the island.

Fortnite Season 5 end event

Epic Games have been regularly giving us season-ending events since the first event more than two years ago. With so much activity happening on the island in Season 5, it’s safe to assume that we’ll be getting another one when the season ends on March 15.

We should be getting a fair amount of build-up before the event takes place, which was what data miners found when they dug into the v15.50 game files.

The first effect that should be coming soon relates to the NPCs around the island. According to data miner, Mang0e, the NPCs will be “teleported to wacky places by the Zero Point.

It’s safe to assume that some of the NPCs will be removed from their traditional locations and sent somewhere, well, wacky. Players have already begun posting screenshots of some NPCs walking out in the open – far away from where they should be.

Another data miner, FortTory, found some files that suggest that our audio will be distorted by the Zero Point. In-game communications may begin to sound strange as you get closer.

This effect seems to be coming in the future. We tested voice-comms around the Zero Point and haven’t seen any changes yet.

Some players are speculating that these pulses or “mini-events” could take the place of a major, season-ending event. We would be surprised if this was the case, but we’ve seen a few seasons end without events in the recent past.

Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye on data miners and the Zero Point ahead of the scheduled end to Season 5 on March 15. You’ll be the first to know if we learn more.

New voice lines hint at Fortnite Season 5 season-ending event

The most recent Fortnite Season 5 update added new voice lines to the game, suggesting the Zero Point will have a role in the Season 5 event.

Fortnite Voice lines point to event

The Fortnite v15.40 update released some new and leaked NPC voice lines that hint towards a massive season-ending event to close Season 5.

Fortnite Season 4 was a standalone season, in many ways. Instead of focusing on the overarching Fortnite plot, it was a deviation while the Marvel heroes dealt with Galactus.

In Season 5, things picked back up again. We may have gotten more information in Chapter 2 Season 5 than we’ve had for the entirety of Fortnite’s lifespan. We’re at the point where we even think we’ve cracked the case of the Fortnite story.

In v15.40, Epic added some new NPC voice lines to the game that point to what many of us assumed: Season 5 will have a season-ending event that will relate to the Zero Point. Here’s what we learned after the most recent update.

New & leaked Fortnite voice lines

Several Fortnite characters have had their voice lines either updated or leaked. Lexa now has a specific voice line attached to her brother, Orin, which isn’t huge news in any way.

Some of the other leaked lines seem to relate to one of the skins that have yet to be released. Both Kondor and Ragnarok have a specific reaction to a particular skin, but that skin isn’t here yet.

The most interesting voice lines come from characters that are already in the game. Mancake, Deadfire, and Bunker Jonesy all have new voice lines when you approach them. The former two are located near the Zero Point and the latter has been the catalyst of many Season 5 theories.

Hypex, who released all of these voice lines, didn’t go into much detail about what these could mean for the future of Fortnite. If we had to guess, we’d say that they’re preparing us for a season-ending event.

The characters around the Zero Point are taking notice of some changes. At this point, we’d be surprised if the Zero Point didn’t destabilize and take us to another dimension – possibly the in-between from the Butterfly Event.

Only time will tell, but the end of Fortnite Season 5 is now a month away. Epic may be preparing us for something big

Fortnite Winter Trials event & rewards leaked

Epic Games quickly added and removed a webpage that revealed a new Fortnite event: Winter Trials. Here’s everything we know so far.

Published

Epic Games released a new website, announcing the Fortnite Winter Trials. They have since removed the site, leading fans to believe it was leaked early.

Most of the time, when we’re discussing Fortnite leaks, we’re talking about data miners finding files in the game that relate to certain events, skins, etc. In rare cases, Epic let something slip a bit early. That’s what we have here.

On January 25, Epic released the Fortnite Winter Trials webpage, showcasing free rewards, an influencer tournament, community voting on events, and more.

The website was quickly removed after it was added, but data miner Hypex was able to record some of the contents before it went down.

The details of the event are still limited, but it appears as though players will be earning badges for logging in, voting for challenges, and playing Fortnite.

Over the course of the rest of the season, your playtime and badges will reward you with free cosmetics. Most of them are hidden, but we know about a spray, emoticon, and weapon wrap from the images on the website.

We should see an official announcement of the event soon. Since Epic were the ones who jumped the gun, we expect to see them announce the event as soon as tomorrow – if not later tonight.

We’ll update this post when we learn more about the event, along with additional details on how to earn free cosmetics. Stay tuned.
