Epic Games provided us with a statement, canceling the 2020 Fortnite Annual Pass. With v11.31, they updated the bundle. What could this mean?

Last week’s Fortnite v11.30 update brought us a ton of leaks, not the least of which was news of a 2020 Annual Pass. The pass would reportedly include all 2020 Battle Pass content, free tiers, and some exclusive cosmetics that could only be found within the bundle.

Not long after we reported on the topic, however, an Epic Games PR reached out to us and provided a statement. They said that they had considered a 2020 Annual Pass, but weren’t ready to release it just yet.

So, that’s that, right? Well, according to Fortnite data miner @Hypex, Epic updated the Annual Pass files with the v11.31 update. It’s also reportedly available to some players in other parts of the world.

The text says, “Purchase the 2020 Annual Pass and receive all upcoming 2020 Fortnite Battle Royale: Battle Bundles and 7 Annual Pass exclusive cosmetics. Battle Bundles unlock 25% of content in each Battle Pass instantly upon release.”

Why would Epic update the Annual Pass files if they weren’t planning on releasing it? Could they be saving it for next year or tweaking it for a future release?

We don’t know just yet, but we can’t consider the Annual Pass to be back on until Epic confirms its existence. Their statement on the topic represents one of the only times that Epic has addressed the data mining community. You would think that they would ignore these leaks if they were planning on releasing the 2020 pass.

Would you buy the Annual Pass if Epic releases it? Are you a fan of these exclusive skins? Let us know in the comments.
