Epic has been under some fire for failing to release the patch notes from Chapter 2 and beyond. Recently, they have removed all of the Fortnite patch notes from their website.
Fortnite Chapter 2 might be the best thing to happen to Fortnite since turbo-building was introduced. There are a few elements that have split the community – such as the lack of mobility – but most players agree that the update was a huge step in the right direction.
There is one massive caveat to all of this that you likely know about by now: Epic hasn’t released any Fortnite patch notes since Chapter 2 came out.
The community is nearly 100% unified on this front. Everyone wants the patch notes. Casual and competitive players alike are begging Epic to tell them what’s changing.
Alas, Epic has refused at every turn. Each patch highlights the lack of communication and amplifies the silence coming from our cherished developer.
In a recent, surprising move, Epic has deleted all of the patch notes from their website. Navigating to the “News” tab shows you nothing but brief updates surrounding Fortnite.
You can still find the patch notes by Googling “Fortnite v-insert patch here-.” They’re not entirely deleted from the internet, but Epic did make it more difficult to find them.
Why is Epic doing this? It’s unclear. Before now, the most realistic theory was that Epic wasn’t changing much. Now, though, they added a Harpoon Gun to the game with no explanation of how it works.
What do you think of the lack of patch notes? Are you part of the minority that agrees with Epic or are you, like most of us, frustrated about the switch?
