Epic Games is taking feedback from Fortnite players about a possible skill-based matchmaking system being added to the game.

The skill-based system has been a much-requested addition from fans – and one that Epic addressed in their State of Development V4 post in February of 2018.

Since then, there have been hints at what a skill-based/ranked mode would look like. The ‘Share the Love’ series included placement matches and divisional rankings towards the end of Season 7 – similar to how a ranked system works in other multiplayer titles.

Now, in a post to the FortniteBR subreddit, user bflet48 posted a screenshot of a questionnaire from Epic, looking for feedback about a number of topics – with one looking suspiciously like the description of a skill-based mode.

“Fortnite Battle Royale should have matchmaking that separates brand new players from experienced players,” asks one of the questions.

This also isn’t the first time that Epic has sent out similar questionnaires looking for fan feedback. However, does hinting at possible skill-based matchmaking mean they’re considering it? Well, some fans would certainly hope so.

Players, both casual and competitive, have been vocal in wanting some sort of ranking system being put in place. That includes popular streamers like Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins and Jack ‘CourageJD’ Dunlop. Pro players like Team Liquid’s Tom ’72hrs’ Mulligan have also asked for something similar to be added into the game recently.

Do you think Epic should add a ranked/skill-based mode into Fortnite? How would you want it to work? Let us know, either way, in the comments below.
