Bottle Rockets have returned to Fortnite for a limited time.
The updates throughout Fortnite Chapter 2 have been relatively minimal. Sure, we got some new mechanics and cosmetics from Winterfest and Fortnite X Star Wars, but that’s about it. Most of the updates have focused on fixing bugs rather than adding new items.
We didn’t get a patch this week, but Epic did bring back one of its old items for a limited time. Bottle Rockets have returned to Fortnite for the Lunar New Year, which takes place on January 25.
We’ll likely have the Bottle Rockets in Fortnite until next week’s content update. There’s a possibility that they stick around for the rest of the season, but it doesn’t seem likely that Epic will clog the loot pool with them.
Bottle Rockets first came into the game during Season 7 and were vaulted at the beginning of Season 8. They have to be near the top of the list of the most useless weapons in Fortnite.
The idea behind the Bottle Rockets was to throw them in order to destroy your enemy’s structures. They shoot 45 rockets, dealing 42 damage to structures and 10 damage to players. The range of the Bottle Rockets is extremely unpredictable, which is why few people ever used them. Grenades will always be a more reliable alternative.
Bottle Rockets are on-theme for the Lunar New Year, but they won’t be getting too many players excited. We’re going to need some more content to fill the next month of the season now that it’s been extended once again.
