Rapper BlocBoy JB has some words for Epic Games regarding the ‘Hype’ emote in Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Originally titled the ‘Shoot’ dance BlocBoy JB first popularized the move back in the summer of 2017 with a song of the same name.

However, after the dance was added to Fortnite: Battle Royale as an emote in Season 4, it gained a substantial amount of notoriety.

In a Tweet on September 10, BlocBoy JB lashed out at Epic Games for not giving the Memphis, Tennessee-based performer credit or reimbursement after placing the dance in Fortnite.

‘Hype’ could only be obtained by those that paid for the Battle Pass in Season 4, and was not available for free.

BlocBoy JB is not the only member of the music industry to question Epic Games. Popular Chicago-based singer and songwriter Chance the Rapper also previously hit out about the developer using content from creators without credit.

It is unknown at this time if Epic Games will respond to the claims from the various artists.
