Epic Games have vaulted six items ahead of the release of Fortnite Season 7 on Thursday, December 6.

Epic Games regularly remove weapons and items from the game, placing them in what the developers call the Vault.

Weapons are removed from the game when Epic Games find that item isn’t used very often by the community or players are failing to pick them up, or alternatively if they feel a weapon is too powerful and needs to be worked on to make it more balanced.

Epic Games used the introduction of Season 6 back in September has an opportunity to make sweeping changes to Fortnite, vaulting a whole host of items including the Bouncer, much to the dismay of the Fortnite community.

And with the launch of Season 7, it seems the developers have done the same thing, placing six items into the vault, including the popular Shockwave Grenade.

Included in the patch notes for the V7.00 update is the news that the following weapons and items have been vaulted:

  • Shadow Stones
  • Port-a-Fort
  • Chiller
  • Clinger
  • Double Barrel Shotgun
  • Shockwave Grenade

While it comes as no surprise that Shadow Stones, which were introduced as part of the Kevin the Cube storyline during Season 6, have been vaulted, many fans are shocked to see the removal of Shockwave Grenades, which have become a staple in the game after replacing the Impulse Grenade.

Of course, while players are sad to see the back of some of their favorite items, it’s always worth remembering that Epic Games always stress that a vaulted item isn’t removed forever, and may make an appearance in the game again at a future date.
