A staggering amount of people played Fortnite: Battle Royale across the month of August.
According to Epic Games, the month of August saw 78.3 million players on the game across all platforms.
This makes August Fortnite’s ‘biggest month yet,’ which shows that the game continues to grow as time goes on.
The player count was vital for the developer to make changes to infrastructure and systems, along with exposing ‘weak points’ that need improving.
August saw a collection of new content and updates implemented by Epic Games across Season 5. ‘The Cube’ event, along with the hype for what will happen during Season 6, may have both been major factors in driving the huge player count.
You can view the full statement from Epic Games below.
“For example, August was Fortnite’s biggest month yet, with 78.3 million of you showing up to play. This exposed weak points and allowed us to make targeted improvements to critical systems, such as stats and servers. The Summer Skirmish also, as you all probably noticed, highlighted problems with performance and spectating, which we’ve been working on ever since”
While there have been reports of over 100 million people downloading the game in previous months, it should be noted that August 2018 had the most people actually playing the title in one month.
