A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot an 11-year-old following a loss in Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Michael Aliperti, a 45-year-old man from Long Island, New York, was arrested on Tuesday, September 18 at his home and has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault.

Charges also include ‘acting in a manner to injure a child’ after Aliperti reportedly sent threatening messages through Xbox following a loss in Fortnite: Battle Royale, police claim.

Messages allegedly included threats to shoot the 11-year-old boy, with reports from the police stating that Aliperti may have mentioned the teen’s school.

According to NBC New York, police will arraign Michael Aliperti on Tuesday. At the time of writing, it is unknown how long of a sentence the charge potentially holds, if convicted.
