The ability to ‘edit’ builds and structures with controllers in Fortnite: Battle Royale has been the topic of heavy debate between players.

For an extended period of time, Fortnite players on consoles were only able to edit their builds at a much slower rate than their PC counterparts.

On September 18, the release of the V5.41 update brought a reduced ‘edit button hold time’ on console, meaning that players can now make adjustments much quicker than before.

With this in mind, Reddit user /u/Thuned put the new editing system on display by showing how quickly changes can now be made in a post on Reddit.

Exact changes for controller editing times can be viewed below.

  • “Reduced the edit button hold timing when using a controller.
    • Old School from 0.25s to 0.2s.
    • Quick Builder from 0.25s to 0.2s.
    • Combat Pro from 0.25s to 0.2s.
    • Builder Pro from 0.25s to 0.15s.”

Having the ability to edit on-the-fly is a major component in Fortnite, and can often be the difference between life and death in high-intensity situations.
