Epic have released a new Dev Update over on Twitter to discuss recent changes to the SMG, Remote Explosives and the return of the Guided Missile. Here’s everything you need to know:

SMG Changes

  • Goal is to provide a viable alternative to shotguns in close-quarter combat
  • Should support a run-and-gun play style
  • Recent SMG and Compact SMG show that they can be viable but have been overperforming
  • Changes made to bring them more in line with Epic’s goals at creating a balanced weapon that excels in close-quarter combat

Remote Explosives

  • Recently reduced the radius at which a charge can damage structures
  • Charges must be attached to something before detonation
  • They are now in a healthier spot but still provide their goal of causing significant damage to structures
  • Max stack size and drop count may be reduced in the future (v5.2)

Guided Missile

  • Concerns upon initial release
  • A number of changes have been made to turn it into more of a scouting tool than a weapon
  • Reduced movement speed, turning radius and damage
  • Movement controls have been improved on mouse and keyboard
